A “Lake Darling” Engagement Shoot
There’s always a bit of a struggle when it comes to shooting engagement sessions in this early-spring time in Iowa. The weather can be so unpredictable and we never really know what the temperature will be! We can have 70 and sunny in early March and then cold and windy at the beginning of May! Well, guess which one we had? YUP — chilly and windy…well mostly windy. Overall if it were not for the crazy vigorous wind, it would have been a pretty nice day. I’m a little cold blooded, so if there is a slight breeze in the air, you can find me sporting a sweater and possibly a jacket!
I have not had the chance to shoot at Lake Darlin so I arrived a little early to scout out the area. As I scouted I was so excited to meet my couple! When Samantha first inquired with me I knew we’d be a great fit — she was SO sweet and I could tell she was so excited to share about her and her fiancé, Jac. ? I love meeting joyful brides-to-be! I love to see their excitement! Samantha and Jac have that joyful excitement and to capture all their joy and excitement is so fun!
I always do some research on my couples’ social media profiles to find out about them and when I was browsing Samantha’s Facebook page, I came across a video of Jac’s proposal to her. So so amazingly sweet! Samantha and Jac apparently had a trip to Arizona planned but unbeknownst to Samantha, Jac had something else in mind! He waited until they were atop a mountain overlooking the area, got down on one knee and proposed to Samantha! It was just magical!
During their session, these two were full of smiles, laughter and so in love and it was seriously contagious! I’m so excited for their wedding in September! Samantha, Jac, it was a JOY to meet you and I’m so honored to be part of your day!
